Little Man's Nursery

It's done and turned out better than I had envisioned! :)

I knew exactly the theme/ color scheme I wanted to do if it was a little boy, and once I found and fell in love with the fabric I used to sew the bedskirt and curtains, the rest just started coming together piece by piece.  I don't think the pictures do it justice or really show the colors well, but since the lighting is best in there in the mornings, and I won't be able to take morning pics until this weekend, I am sharing anyways.

When people ask me the theme of his nursery and I say "outdoorsy" they immediately think camo, and are often surprised when I say the only thing camo in his room are a few onesies and his "daddy duty" diaper bag.   Yes, you can do outdoorsy without being redneck and here is the proof.

The view from the door as you walk in.
The trophy wall, changing dresser, and crib.
The glider and bookcase view.
The closet and door view.  (People are always surprised at how big his name sign really is.)

The rest of these are just a few of the little details...
A close up of the bedding and curtain fabrics.
The cross is from Brett's nursery when he was a baby, and the painting is from a very special family and has the rhyme "First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Tucker in the baby carriage." painted around the edge.
His trophy sign is made out of a ring of real wood and cricut letters.
Brett picked out the light switch cover!
A giant decorative reel holds up part of his curtain arrangement and when the sun hits the crystals in the afternoon, his room seems to sparkle.  I love sitting in there watching the light.

I hope he likes it as much as I do!

Happy Holidays

Here's a recap of our Christmas in pictures.  I enjoy the holidays but often feel like it is a marathon of sorts, heading from one place to another for 3 days straight, and this year it was extra exhausting.  Oh well, it is worth it to spend that quality time with all of our dearest family.

My mom's birthday is also on Christmas Eve and this year she turned 60, so we had some extra celebrating to do!

my adorable nephew and niece
my dad making homemade noodles
my mom and her grandkids
my mom and her 3 kiddos
my mom with her parents and siblings
part of the Haby clan
Maddie, our flower girl, whose parents are die hard aggies, got paid a dollar to put on Tucker's bib! ;)

on Christmas day Xena and Kirby were content with their stuffed toys
while Sako preferred to run around outside with her ball
and ended up slicing her foot so bad that we had to wrap it in oodles of guaze and cover it with a sock
our little family at Christmas
my sister-in-law & brother-in-law's first Christmas as Mr. & Mrs. Brad Haby
Brett with our new video camera for keeping up with Tucker
my brother-in-law showing off how he "looks so good" in his new life jacket
the in-laws showing off their new goodies
and let's not forget that Christmas usually is accompanied by deer hunting which means we are making jerky  :)   You may think we are such rednecks hanging this in a rack in the garage over the john boat to cure, but it is  absolutely DELICIOUS!

Term

Today marks 37 weeks on the dot.
In the wonderful world of pregnancy that means that Tucker is considered "full term".

Exhausted at 37 weeks after a long day at school
It's a lovely thing, especially since I never really thought I would make it this far.  I mean, I have had an overall fabulous pregnancy with no real complications or concerns, but for some silly reason, I really thought he would make an early debut.  Maybe this has to do with it taking a few months to get preggo/ having several friends deliver early, I don't know… So today is definitely a day for rejoicing at our house. :)

Here's the stats as of today

weeks preggo
 - 37

due
- January 23, 2012 (exactly 3 weeks away) Although, I have the date of January 13th on my mind.  I don't know why, but that number just seems to "feel" to me...

weight gain
- 18 pounds (4 of which have come on in the past 3 weeks!  I'm thinking it has to do with him dropping enough that I have room for food again finally, the newfound swelling, being too exhausted to walk as often, and the holidays happening all at once. ;)  My appetite had not been huge the first 8 months but I am definitely eating like a pregnant lady now!)

feeling
- Overall good.
- Some days miserable, swollen, hurting, and humongous.
- Other days just slightly uncomfortable and tired.

craving
- Broiled grapefruit.
- Corn dogs. (which I can't have because of the nitrates, BUT morningstar farms makes a DELICIOUS and healthy vegetarian version that is totally legit)
- Pizza dipped in ranch.

Dr. said at last appointment
-  I am definitely retaining water and swelling, but she is not going to worry about it unless my blood pressure goes up.
- He is head down and will stay that way.  (I know exactly where all his body parts are at this point generally so it is fun to know what that bump poking out is when he moves.)
- As of now, she would be surprised if he weighed over 7 pounds at birth.

preparations
- All birthing/ breastfeeding classes are done.  (I am so glad we took these btw!)
- Maternity pictures are taken. (I haven't seen them yet, but the few I saw on the camera at the shoot were precious!  I can't wait to share them and brag on the awesomeness of Country Grace Photography in another post soon!)
- The hospital bags are packed.
- His nursery is all done and organized except for covering the arms of the glider, which would take me about 2 hours one night if I really focused on it.
- Car seat bases are installed and leveled.
- The camera and camcorder have empty SD cards and charged batteries.
- The birthing ball, pillows, and boppy are all together and ready to be tossed in the car.
- The long term sub plans are done overall, my OCD self just adds to them and preps a little extra each day.
- I still need to actually type out the birth plan  (no biggie if it doesn't happen since Brett and I are in agreement on all the details) and I need to sew his car seat cover and wiener dog car seat blanket.

missing
- My pre-pregnancy jeans.  I am not super fashionable by any means but I do love my designer jeans and miss them terribly.
- A nice glass of wine or Dos XX with salt and lime now and then.
- Eggs over easy.
- Getting up and down easily.  Brett had to help me at the grocery store when I got stuck on Sunday squatting down looking for something on the bottom shelf.
- Feeling pretty.  Pregnancy doesn't do much for the self esteem, now matter how "cute" or "tiny" people say you look.
- Having enough energy to accomplish things, including walking down the hall without puttering out.
- Being able to comfortably paint my toes, tie my shoes or pick something up off the floor.

And… just for fun, here are some comparison pics for you.

19 weeks with Sako

Your Love is a Song

"All your love is a symphony, all around me, running through me.
All your love is a melody, underneath me, running to me.
All your love is a song…" ~ Switchfoot

I am so very blessed.  And each day that goes by, I seem to realize it more.  God is so good and right now he is showing his amazing self in so many aspects of my life.  No, life is not perfect, nor will it ever be, but I have been austounded at how just a change of perspective towards one that includes the Lord and his desires on most any situation can make a world of difference.  And naturally, he is teaching me how to apply this on a daily basis at an ideal time in my life since my world is about to be turned upside down.

Tucker is due in 25 days

Sure, we are pretty much as "prepared" and ready as new parents-to-be can get, but who is really every ready for a newborn no matter how much attention you pay to every single detail.  Up until a few days ago I was terrified of him coming early and of the whole birthing process itself and when I finally accepted that he is going to come whenever he's ready and that God already has the whole entire process mapped out, I had this overwhelming sense of peace with everything.  Now, I am at the point where I am simply enjoying the experience.  These past nine months have gone by faster than I ever imagined and I want to just take it all in.  Every single aspect of a baby from conception forward is truly a miracle and an amazing event orchestrated by God and my relationship with him has deepened and strengthened so much during this process.

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well." ~ Psalm 139:14

* Side note… Since another teacher at school told me she was having "blog withdrawals" Tammy and the whole point of this thing was to write on a consistent basis and document things in life, I plan to actually get back in the grove of things over the next few days with a week of "baby backtracking"  where I will share what happened during my 2 month blog absence.  Check back soon. :)
